The Whey Protein Isolate used in Slim Shake is produced using a Cross Flow Microfiltration (CFM) process; this is a natural non-chemical process that filters out the fat, cholesterol, and denatured proteins whilst preserving its natural shape, solubility and biological activity. Unprocessed whey proteins contain a high level of calcium, the CFM process reduces sodium while retaining this calcium. Isolate Proteins produced using the alternative and less expensive ion exchange process are significantly higher in sodium and lower in calcium and can also be contaminated by chemical residues.

The CFM process is unique in that a full range of proteins is maintained in the final product, for example, the glycomacropeptides which are biologically active proteins, are excluded by the ion exchange process but recovered by the CFM process.

Biologically active foods are foods that have a positive health benefit when consumed. The biological activity of whey protein is dependent on the undenatured conformation of the individual whey proteins and is unrelated to its nutritional quality. The whey protein utilised in Slim Shake contains the highest levels of undenatured protein available (>99%).
